Traveling with Pets: Caring Tips from Chez Mieux and Kitty Cottage
Helping Your Little Ones Feel Right at Home Wherever You Roam Planning a trip is exciting, but if you're a proud parent of a whiskered traveler, it can also feel a little stressful. Whether you're heading on a family vacation, taking a road trip, or moving to a new city, traveling with your little one requires careful planning. At Chez Mieux and our sister company Kitty Cottage, we believe in treating every furry family member with love and care first. Profit never comes before the happiness of your little one. Should You Bring Your Little One Along Before packing your bags, think about whether your little one is truly comfortable with travel. Some are curious explorers who love new sights, while others are happiest staying in a cozy space like Chez Mieux or Kitty Cottage. Ask yourself: Does your little one get anxious in carriers or cars? Do they have health issues that make travel difficult? Will the travel environment be safe and quiet for them?

What's Included With Cat Boarding?
More Than Just a Place to Sleep
When comparing cat boarding prices, it's important to understand what is actually included. A lower advertised boarding rate can look attractive until playtime, individual attention, enrichment, or other everyday care is added separately.
At Chez Mieux, we believe those things are part of caring for your cat.
Every boarding guest receives attentive daily care designed around their individual personality and routine. Your cat's stay includes:
Private, Comfortable Accommodations
Our multi-level condos provide separate areas for sleeping, eating, and litter, along with cozy bedding and space to climb and relax.
Daily Individual Attention
Our caregivers spend time getting to know each guest and interacting with them according to their comfort level and personality.
Play & Enrichment
Interactive play, toys, exercise opportunities, climbing, and other enrichment are provided according to each cat's interests and abilities.
Brushing & Treats
Brushing, treats, and extra TLC are complimentary rather than being charged as separate daily services.
Fresh Litter & Daily Housekeeping
Clean accommodations and fresh litter are maintained throughout your cat's stay.
Personalized Feeding
We follow the feeding instructions you provide and recommend bringing your cat's usual food whenever possible to help maintain their familiar routine.
Daily Wellness Monitoring
Our caregivers pay attention to appetite, activity, behavior, litter habits, and overall well-being throughout each guest's stay.

Continuing Your Cat's Care While You're Away
Cats who take regular medications don't necessarily need to miss out on a comfortable boarding stay. Chez Mieux can accommodate a variety of medication and treatment needs. Fees are charged per administration and vary according to the type of care required.
These rates reflect the additional time and attention required to provide scheduled medication or treatment during your cat's boarding stay.
If your cat requires medication, injections, fluids, wound care, or another special routine, please tell us about their needs before booking so we can confirm that we have the information necessary to care for them properly.
All medications should arrive with clear instructions.
Extended-Stay Cat Boarding
Staying a Little Longer?
Sometimes a trip lasts more than a few days.
Chez Mieux welcomes cats for short stays as well as extended boarding stays, including stays lasting several weeks or longer.
Discounts may be available for boarding stays of more than 20 days.
Extended boarding can be useful when you're:
- • Taking a long vacation
- • Traveling internationally
- • Away for work
- • Moving or relocating
- • Having work completed in your home
- • Managing another temporary situation that makes at-home care difficult
For longer stays, maintaining familiar routines becomes especially important. We encourage you to provide detailed feeding instructions, medication schedules, and information about your cat's personality and normal habits.
If you're planning an extended trip, contact Chez Mieux for current availability and extended-stay pricing.
Holiday Boarding Rates
Holidays are among the busiest times of year for cat boarding, and a holiday surcharge may apply during peak holiday periods.
If you're planning to travel around Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, school vacation weeks, or another popular travel period, we strongly recommend requesting your cat's stay as early as possible.
Availability can fill quickly during peak travel periods.
Please ask about applicable holiday pricing when making your reservation.
A Note About Food
We strongly encourage you to bring enough of your cat's usual food for their stay. Maintaining their normal diet helps keep one more part of their daily routine familiar while they're away from home.
Please provide:
- • Enough food for the entire stay
- • Clear feeding instructions
- • Portion information
- • Feeding times, if important
- • Details about any dietary restrictions or allergies
- • Refrigeration instructions when necessary
Chez Mieux can provide canned or dry food as a backup when needed, but your cat's familiar food is generally preferred.
There is no need to bring litter or everyday bedding. We'll provide those essentials during your cat's stay.

Choosing the Right Boarding Arrangement
Not sure whether your cats should share a condo or have separate accommodations?
That's completely normal.
Some feline siblings are happiest curled up together. Others may share a home perfectly well but appreciate having their own space when adjusting to a different environment.
When recommending accommodations, we can consider factors such as:
- • Whether your cats regularly sleep together
- • How they interact at home
- • Individual feeding routines
- • Age and mobility
- • Medication requirements
- • Personality
- • Need for personal space
The goal isn't simply to fit your cats into a particular pricing category. It's to choose an arrangement that makes sense for them.
Before Your Cat's Stay
All guests must meet Chez Mieux's current health and vaccination requirements.
Cats must be current on:
FVRCP
Rabies
Proof of vaccination from a licensed veterinarian is required prior to or at check-in. Veterinary-documented titers may also be accepted where applicable.
We also ask that you provide complete information about any medical, dietary, or behavioral needs before arrival.
